Women's Right to Vote Recognized in Columbia County, Georgia

Poetry Matters Project established a collaborative relationship with Women's National History Project several years ago. Under the leadership of Molly MacGregor the campaign to write women into history has spread across the country. PMP joined as a group looking to recognize women in as many formats as possible.  In March 2017 Poetry Matters Project saluted women in McCormick, South Carolina with recognition of woman trailblazer. The program which was well attended and received will take place next year on March 16, 2018.

         
                          Comm. William D. Morris presents Lucinda Clark with proclamation

   The anniversary of women gaining the vote with the passage of the ninetieth amendment to the Constitution will be celebrated on August 26th. In keeping with the anniversary, Publisher and Poetry Matters Project Founder, Lucinda Clark made a request of Columbia County Commissioners to proclaim August 26th as Women's Equality Day. The proclamation was presented by Commissioner Morris on Tuesday evening, August 15th at the Commissioner's meeting. Poetry Matters Project salutes the men who serve our community with dignity and courage!
